News, news, news

I come with good news.

After some consideration I have decided to take this blog to a 'cricket' specific website.  I'll give you so more details in a couple of days, but this is exciting for me.

A chance to really push my skills as a 'blogger.'  The chance to take this to a wider audience is something I can't say no to.

So, nothing will really change except for where you can find this, and I'll post all the details when I have the exact address.  You might even get some photos out of me now; something a couple of you have been asking for.

I'd still appreciate your comments, you can still do that.  That function will still be there.  Your comments are useful as they help me write later pieces as you give me ideas on what to wirte about.  So keep 'em coming!

Again, thanks for being a part of this, I'm enjoying it.

Regards

OB

Mate I'd rather like to see this as a blog, not a website.

In no time it will be filled with ads and biographies and this and that and will lose the 'personal' nature in it, which is the most iimportant thing...

Of course its you decision, but at least please do try to keep it as 'bloggy' as possible!

Mate, the style of writing will only change as I get better. There will be no input from any website people... I'll be posting it myself.

We'll see how it goes.

Oh that's great to hear, good luck!!!

We'll be waiting for more posts...

That's fantastic! It's great to see that your blogging is being appreciated and you're getting a better stage for your posts.

As a fellow blogger (not a cricket blogger, alas), I'm so happy and excited for you :-D

Just as long as you keep your natural style go for it.

Always refreshing to be reading you.

Great to hear Iain

Mate you could have a serious future in this sort of stuff post cricket!!

But in the mean time lets just focus on getting you to two hundred test wickets for us.

Have a go at the ICC and you'll soon get a dedicated readership. Pretty much all cricket fans hate them.

Obviously you can't do it directly. We'll set up a code now:

I had kippers for breakfast = The ICC have made another idiotic ruling.

I'll be watching out for it when you move...

Keep up the blogging, Iain. It is great to see a cricketer with a wider vocabulary of words than the usual 'We'll set them a target' or 'They played well all round'. This is lovely.

Congrats on being the only remaining pace bowler standing from the Bangladesh/Aussie series!

I thought it was a little rough that they took Martin and Southee out but can see why they would bring Gillespie in.

Exciting to see Tim McIntosh play, he's averaged over 40 the last two seasons and has a solid base (13 FC centuries) to come into the team with.

good luck for the windies iain. Can I ask do you get streesed out prior to test selection, are you eagerly awaiting the announcements or to see if you are 12th man or not.I stress out over team selections and I dont even play!

Iain, I'd just like to add my voice to those here who have expessed their appreciation your blog.

It's nice to get an honest view from the middle without the spin that would normally accompany an officially sanctioned report. I've bookmarked this page and hope to return here often during the Windies tour, good luck on that.

PS glad you escaped the chop!

No, I hope it is cricinfo, that's where I go all the time to get my daily dose of cricket, and that would be made all the better by Iain's blog in the same place.
Good on you mate, congratulations. :D

Sach said...

Jeez Robbi we call it crapinfo, not cricinfo! LOL...

I hope it will NEVER be crapinfo, but Ian's own site...

Hey Robbi, if he doesn't go to crocinfo you can always use an RSS Reader, or for the technically challenged try bookmarks.

Then you'll be able to catch Iain's inspired pearls of cricketing wisdom from the safety of your very own Internet Explorer 6.

To the two indian boys in here Sachintha and gatauom or whatever you're name is.

Read before you write. Otherwise you come out looking like a tool.

Don't listen to them Iain just do you're thing. The Windies are going down

Sach said...

Two things Rowan.

1. I ain't Indian, I'm SRI LANKAN!

2. Ian himself promised to write this new site's posts by himself, which means he himself accepts it is important to keep it that way. And makes sense too. What makes this blog different from ALL the other cricketers' web site is this is written by Ian himself, not a ghost writer. So I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask him to keep it that way.

So YOU think before speak.

Hey Iain

Do you still play Indoor? I saw you and Mark Orchard almost win us the World Cup back in 02. You hit the mean six to keep us in the game. Ever feel like getting back into it?

G'day Ian,

Just checked out the blog for the first time and really enjoyed the content. I think people are genuinely interested in a "behind the scenes" take on life in a national sporting team and I would love to hear more of the stories about the characters within the game today. I honestly believe you are helping generate interest in the game which has to be a good thing.

Good luck with the blog and the upcoming series. I'm heading over for the 20/20 tournament in June to visit my fat brother so touch wood you might get a sniff for that trip???

Cheers, Mike Rodgers.

Hi Iain,

Saw the full squad to take on the Windies the other day.

I must say, I like it on paper. I think Franklin gives the bowling line up an nice variety, although Martin must feel a touch hard done by, even if Gillespie is in great form. Then again,
a few more overs under his belt mught be just what he needs to find those missing 5km/h.

Southee is a great prospect, and at only 19, will benefit from some more time domestically. However I believe he will be a permanent fixture in a black cap in the not too distant future.

Redmond was unlucky to be axed after finding some form in Adelaide. I do hope the selectors don't hold one "mad moment" against him permanently as they have done to so many in the past.

I'm very keen to see Timmy though. From what I hear and read about him he is the sort of opener NZ need, not too mention the 1st class experience he brings to the table.

And with Oram back, Baz finding form, Talyor looking very close to a big score and Ryder coming along nicely. I think you and the boys will really take it to the West Indians.

Good luck and keep up the great blogging!

Cool, I hope its not going to be a paid site, and will you have complete control over the content that you write??

Keep up the good blogging!!

keep it natural, honest, stream of consciousness.
i'd be interested to learn of training, i.e. what goes into it, and who's doing the really hard work (and by omission who isn't).
